Ulcerative Colitis Case Study- Cellular Healing Diet- Day 10

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

My digestion was not very good this morning. Still having a bit of blood. I am still on Fargelin today, although I went to the natural foods store and bought Curcumin, but they didn't have GABA which is Butyric Acid. These 2 items are supposed to be extremely helpful when overcoming colitis along with the Cellular Healing Diet by Dr. Dan Pompa. Curcumin helps decrease cytokins, peroxynitrite, and superoxide in our cells that are in the vicious cycle of cellular inflammation. Reducing these in your cells will therefore lead to reduced cellular inflammation. GABA is also very helpful with people with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease because it helps your brain relax and turn off the anxiety part of the brain.
I took 4 capsules of Curcumin. We sell C3 Curcumin in our office by Designs for Health. It will be a week or two until we get it in our office so I got it at the natural foods store. I'm hoping this brand is effective.

Breakfast:
2 eggs
Flaxseed bread

Lunch:
Salad w/ chicken sausage

Dinner:
Beef chili w/o beans
mixed greens

Snack:
Synergy Kombucha

I stopped the Zylene yesterday to make sure that my body has it's full energy to heal itself. I definitely missed the Zylene though. It helps with energy and just a mood booster too.

In closing for the day, the Cellular Healing Diet is not hard. In fact, it is very easy. It is eating healthy and eating whole foods- which is important for everyone to do. Having Ryan doing the meals with me is very helpful. My husband is so supportive and it's awesome.
In fact, he's lost 9 pounds since he's started the Cellular Healing Diet 10 days ago. I've lost 5.5 pounds, and losing weight really was not my goal. I'm praying this excess weight I'm losing is toxins exiting my body for good!

Ulcerative Colitis Case Study- Cellular Healing Diet- Day 9

Monday, February 22, 2010

Day 25 of my cycle and my digestion is terrible. I get depressed in times like this. Ugh. BUT, I'm still forging forward. I still have to take curcumin like Dr. Pompa suggested at this seminar. I learned that if someone is having IBS, ulcerative colitis, or crohn's disease, he or she should be on butyric acid and curcumin along with the Cellular Healing Diet. I have yet to incorporate those 2 supplements into my plan, I'm hoping to do so SOON.

Breakfast:
Omelet w/ mushrooms

Lunch:
Flaxseed breat
Nuts

Dinner:
Baked chicken
small sweet potato (I know this is not on the list, I made an error)

Snack:
Celery
Cashew butter

11pm: bad gas (rumbling and distention), had blood in my stool

Today I went to acupuncture. It helped me relax. Kathy, the acupuncturist said that my digestion seems to be challenged around my menstrual cycle and to make sure I am prepared before it comes to combat Ulcerative Colitis symptoms until my body is fully healed.
I feel down the stairs today with Asher (my 15-month-old son). My ankle was swollen so Kathy put some needles and stim on it. It is feeling good so far this evening although stiff.
I'm planning on having a better day tomorrow. OH- also, Asher has been sick since Sunday afternoon. He's just got a fever, but it seems to be lasting a while. I plan on taking him to the Dr. tomorrow if he is not feeling better.

Ulcerative Colitis Case Study- Cellular Healing Diet- Day 8

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Bad digestion today. Experiencing slight bleeding- I haven't changed my eating since I was feeling great, so I can only attribute this digestive discomfort to my pending menstrual cycle.
Ugh!

Breakfast:
1 egg

Lunch:
Beef roast & veggies

Dinner:
Chicken salad
avocado

Snack:
Synergy Kombucha
2 handfuls of nuts

I began taking a chinese herb called, Fargelin, today. This is supposed to help dispel heat and dampness from the body. Mainly, I use this herb pending my menstrual cycle because my body tends to go to a damp heat state during that time. I'm frustrated, yet soothed in the fact that I'm pinpointing my digestive discomforts to happen right around my menstrual cycle. This tells me that my hormones are still working to balance out and until they are healthy and balanced, I do think I will experience digestive problems around my menstrual cycle.

It's tough when you would give almost anything to be healthy and it seems to take forever. When our bodies heal themselves it really doesn't happen over night. That is ok. I'm committed to getting my body healthy while here on earth so I can be used by God in how he sees fit. I am here for a reason. I take hold of the power within me to live with passion. My husband would probably call this writing babbling so I'll end this with, Good night.

Ulcerative Colitis Case Study- Cellular Healing Diet- Day 7

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Ok digestion today. Still having bad gas and I can't figure out what it could be except my hormonal fluctuation per my menstrual cycle which is about 5 days away.

Snack:
Synergy Kombucha

Lunch:
Beef
Peppers
1 oz Goat cheese

Really bad gas in the evening/late evening.

Ulcerative Colitis Case Study- Cellular Healing Diet- Day 6

Friday, February 19, 2010

I felt great so far today, except towards the end of the evening I had really bad gas. I attributed it to possibly the goat cheese, so I have not eaten that for a few days to see if that helped. I still had a normal BM today.

Breakfast:
1 egg, 1 piece of flaxseed bread

Lunch:
Chicken breast
greens for a salad

Dinner:
Tilapia over green beans

Snack:
Pumpkin seeds
Walnuts
Cashews

One thing to note today is that I am extremely hungry. Another thing to note is that I am day 22 of my cycle so I will have my menses in about a week. I tend to get altered digestion right around my menstrual cycle.

Great digestion today.

Stress level was MEDIUM today, did breathing and meditation exercises to relax.

One thing, when people have ulcerative colitis it is natural to develop anxiety if one does not already have it. The worries that come with ulcerative colitis are many, but it takes an active and strong mind to cast out worries by faith. Realizing that if we cast our cares upon Jesus, he will take care of them for us.

Scripture that I've been repeating today in my mind is this:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Ulcerative Colitis Case Study- Cellular Healing Diet Day 4

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

We left for Madison today to visit Adam (Ryan's brother), Erin (Adam's wife), Lindson (Adam's son), Sierra (Adam's daughter). I went grocery shopping and packed up everything in a cooler to bring down with us to make sure we eat according to the Cellular Healing Diet.

I took 1 Zylene 1.1 at 11am. My usual supplements to help support my body reverse my food allergies along with implementing the cellular healing diet.
My digestion has been great. Minimal ulcerative colitis symptoms. I've had UC for so long, I know I may think certain symptoms are "normal" when they are not. Overall, I have vastly improved.

Only able to get about 5.5 hours of sleep, we stayed up visiting with Adam and Erin b/c we haven't seen them in so long.

Cellular Healing Diet- Sharing it with others

When you believe in something with all of the fibers of your being, you just need to share it, right??

Well, I want to share with all of you that as soon as I got in town from Pittsburgh, PA, I went to our town's natural food store (Fresh and Natural Foods). I walked in with a mindset of getting everything I needed to begin the Cellular Healing Diet TODAY. I was walking over the the isle where one can get Synergy Kombucha (it's on sale!) and I overheard a lady talking about oils and how no oils are good besides olive oil because all the others have saturated fat.

Well, for those that know me well, wouldn't be surprised that I jumped RIGHT into the conversation she was having with her husband. You know why I jumped right in? Because she needed to know the TRUTH! So, I told her that coconut oil is one of the best oils out there because it's 4:1 ratio (it has ALL the fats in one oil, how awesome!) She said she still thought coconut oil wouldn't be good for her husband because he has high cholesterol. So guess what I do? I continue to tell her about the traffic jam theory I learned at the Pompa Seminar this past weekend and why the "regular" cholesterol tests don't give us the information that is vital to health. They GOT it! So, I told them if they want the correct cholesterol test, they can come to my office. It gets better!

So this 80-year-old gentelman precedes to tell me he has type 2 diabetes. I was just about to JUMP out of my shoes- I was so excited!!! I CAN HELP THIS MAN! So, I told him so. I explained how it goes down to the cellular level- cellular inflammation. His diabetes has a great chance of getting out of dodge if he could get his cellular inflammation under control. I told them I, along with Dr. Jen, will be doing workshops that will share this awesome discovery to our community. I gave them my number, they gave me their email address. We hugged and we went along our way.

You know what? I listened to the nudge within me to talk to them. The gentleman stopped me 3 times in the store after our 30-minute conversation in the oil isle, just to tell me a joke. I now consider them friends, Byron and Georgie, that is. They are older in years, but nevertheless, seeking healing while God has them on this earth. Build those relationships with people. Offer support to them. We need each other if we are going to make it. You know what that tells me? I need to do this EVERY TIME I have that nudge. It's obeying what God has put me on earth here to do. I'm done saying NO to God. God, I'm all in your court. You tell me to jump. I WILL JUMP.

Ulcerative Colitis Case Study- Cellular Healing Diet Day 1

It's Valentine's day!

I just had the most AMAZING weekend. I went to the Pompa Seminar in Pittsburgh, PA and it completely changed my life! I've always been waiting for the "missing link." I knew I wasn't meant to have ulcerative colitis forever. Ulcerative colitis does not define me. Most of us with the "disease" think it's not curable. I DON'T agree with that statement AND never will!! We spend EVERY SINGLE day knowing where a bathroom is wherever we go just in case we "have to go." It's a prison and we are not meant to be in it!!!!! I know that ulcerative colitis is a SYMPTOM of something else going on in my body. I've always believed that. Ok, so I felt I needed to add my 2 cents, since this is MY blog on MY health and journey. Today is my 1st day of completely following the Cellular Healing diet. The Cellular Healing Diet was created by Dr. Dan Pompa and it MAKES SENSE. Our bodies are in a constant state of stress because of our lifestyles-- this diet takes us down to healing at the cellular level.

Every one of our cells is experiencing oxidative stress or SUFFOCATING and our bodies are responding in so many different diseases such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Ulcerative Colitis (UC), Crohn's Disease, Type 1 & 2 Diabetes, Cancer, Heart Disease, etc. The list truly could go on and on. My friend, Casey, asked if I was a radical (as a joke), I LOVE THAT LABEL! I am a radical. I am a radical for change. I am a radical for health. I am a radical for Jesus. That's me and I love me! Ok, so now that you know just a tidbit of WHY I'm doing this, I'll write down what I ate today and a few other things like emotions, cravings, etc. I will continue to reveal more and more about the concept of the cellular healing diet and why it is necessary, no, actually it is the FOUNDATION where true healing can begin. Are you ready? Let's hit it! All the food I will be eating is organic, so I'm not going to label it in each post.

NOTE: I have 4 food allergies: Dairy, Wheat, Soy, Almond and I am refraining from those foods for 6 months and then retesting for allergies.

Breakfast
Nothing- BIG mistake, but we were traveling home from Pittsburgh. Dr. Jen and I left at 4:30am for our flight- and no time to eat.

Lunch
Spinach
Ground beef (grass fed) 4oz
onion
garlic
mushrooms
coconut oil
4 olives in red wine vinegar

Emotions: Felt pumped up. No gas or bloated feeling. Ready to rock.

Snack
6 cashews

Dinner
Beef chuck roast (4oz)
Yellow pepper
onion
garlic
celery
mushrooms
coconut oil
cumin
sea salt
stir-fried all of these ingredients together. It rocked!!

Emotions: SO tired from being up since 2am CST, still pumped up though ;).
Physical: experiencing a bit of rumbling gas, but NO full feeling or nervous stomach

I do want to highlight that my husband, Ryan, supports me 100% NO MATTER WHAT. He's starting the Cellular Healing Diet with me in hopes to cure joint pain from his many years of wrestling, especially at the D1 level for the WI Badgers. Go Badgers! He's on board with me from the moment he saw how pumped I was AND how convinced I am that this is the ULTIMATE way to health.

If you ask me what I do from this day forward, I will tell you this: I SAVE LIVES.
And you know what? I believe it for real.

Be confident in this. God brings us to points in our lives for a reason. It's important to really grasp that concept. I have suffered through this "disease" medically diagnosed as Ulcerative Colitis. I've known from the beginning that God will use my journey to help others. I've been through infertility (cellular inflammation???), unexplained weight gain, stubborn belly fat, mood swings, etc. But in the end all that matters is this: God has showed me how to save lives while here on earth. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. NO ONE comes to the father but through him. The Cellular Healing Diet is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (of health) and NO ONE comes to total health except through it. This will forever be my analogy.

Stick with me- I could use the support!

Thank you!
